The 10 Coolest Things You Can Do in Vegas Besides Attending the 2016 NACUSO Network Annual Conference

“What happens in Vegas…
stays in Vegas.”

This is one of the most famous taglines in modern tourism history and one of the most quoted. R & R Partners were hired in 2003 to help develop a brand around Vegas with something other than gambling. A year of research resulted in the following conclusions:

NACUSO 10 things vegas.001The emotional bond between Las Vegas and its customers was freedom. Freedom on two levels. Freedom to do things, see things, eat things, wear things, feel things. In short, the freedom to be someone we couldn’t be at home. And freedom from whatever we wanted to leave behind in our daily lives. Just thinking about Vegas made the bad stuff go away. At that point the strategy became clear. Speak to that need. Make an indelible connection between Las Vegas and the freedom we all crave.

According to FORBES magazine over 40 million people visit Vegas a year making it the third or fourth most popular tourist attraction in the world. Here’s a list of the 10 coolest things you didn’t know you could do in Vegas:

  1. Fun with Dolphins – the Mirage Spa offers a one-of-a-kind fitness experience, Yoga With the Dolphins
  2. Swim with Sharks – Mandalay Bay boasts “North America’s only predator-based-aquarium.” Dive with the Sharks is a 45-minute unique and thrilling experience.
  3. Wynn Kobe Beef & Rare Lobster Tastings – This is a bucket list item for the steak lover. Besides Kobe, you will be served real Japanese wagyu along with the finest quality US and Australian beef.
  4. Fun and Quirky Museums – some have criticized Vegas for its lack of cultural attractions. Last year the Discovery Children’s Museum opened across the street from Smith Center for Performing Arts and the 61-acre Symphony Park. But if you want something quirky, the Neon Museum showcases the city’s neon legacy.
  5. Dig This Vegas – Kids play in sandboxes but only in Vegas can big kids play with real full-sized bulldozers and excavators.
  6. SlotZilla Zip Lines – This new $11 million attraction fits the “it could only happen in Vegas” to a tee. Imagine being launched from an 11-story, 120-foot high takeoff platform designed as a slot machine with two different launch levels.
  7. Drive Really FastDream Racing is a 5-star driving experience located on a real race track inside the superspeedway at the world famous Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
  8. Golf Like Tiger – Or Phil Mickelson, Ernie Els, Greg Norman and Fred Couples. Butch Harmon, arguably the most famous golf pro in the world conducts 3-day clinics at the Rio Secco Golf Club. If your pockets are deep enough you can schedule private instruction.
  9. Record Breaking Roller Coasters – Vegas is the destination for thrill ride junkies and they are all conveniently up and down the strip. Want to drop 203 feet at a speed of 67 mph? Or take a controlled free fall from 108 floors up? How about a 4-G vertical catapult that takes you 1,081 feet above the strip? Vegas has it all.
  10. The Rock Star of MiniGolf – Only in Vegas can you find the KISS® By Monster Mini Golf®
