PSCU Announces Winners of 2019 Credit Union Magic Minute™

CUSO’s seventh annual holiday sweepstakes celebrates loyalty bond between credit unions and their members

Members from eight lucky credit unions have been selected as winners of the seventh annual Credit Union Magic Minute™, a program developed and sponsored by PSCU to help its Owner credit unions build even more tight-knit relationships with their members.

Starting in October and running through early November, winners from credit unions across the country – including one team participating on behalf of a charity of their choice – were notified that they won an all-expense-paid trip for two to Chicago from Dec. 4-6, 2019. During their trip, teams will have the chance to collect as much as they can from a warehouse stacked with thousands of items, ranging from electronics and toys to kitchenware and household products – all in a heart-pounding 60 seconds.

The Credit Union Magic Minute was created by PSCU as a way to help its Owner credit unions create stronger loyalty by delivering an unforgettable member experience through its rewards program. Owner credit unions participating in PSCU’s rewards program are automatically enrolled in the sweepstakes. Cardholders in CURewards® average six to seven more transactions per month and 30% higher spend throughout the year than non-rewards cardholders.

“We know reward offerings are widespread and popular among today’s consumers – 75% receive some type of rewards or benefits on their credit and/or debit card, according to a recent survey by PSCU,” said Tom Pierce, chief marketing officer at PSCU. “Cash back was reported as the most common reward consumers currently have, but the same survey revealed they want choice in their rewards offerings. When asked what type of reward or benefit would encourage them to use their primary card more often, six in 10 wanted something other than cash back. The Credit Union Magic Minute™ gives our Owner credit unions a unique way to strengthen the bond between credit unions and their members.”

2019 Credit Union Magic Minute winners were selected from the following credit unions:

  • Andrews Federal Credit Union (Suitland, Md.)
  • Baltimore County Employees Federal Credit Union (Baltimore)
  • Baxter Credit Union (Vernon Hills, Ill.)
  • Listerhill Credit Union (Muscle Shoals, Ala.)
  • Tinker Federal Credit Union (Tinker Air Force Base, Okla.)
  • TruStone Financial Federal Credit Union (Minneapolis)
  • Wanigas Credit Union (Saginaw, Mich.)

Each winning member can bring a guest of his or her choosing to take part in the festivities as teams load up their carts with dozens of items like computers, TVs, game systems, cookware, cameras, tablets and more.

The credit union with the highest sweepstakes participation among members, along with demonstrating its marketing efforts to promote the campaign, was rewarded with the opportunity to run for a non-profit organization of its choice. American Airlines Federal Credit Union (Dallas, Texas) will be running for the American Airlines Family Fund this year. Additionally, APCI Federal Credit Union (Lehigh Valley, Penn.) and Hiway Federal Credit Union (St. Paul, Minn.) were announced as charity runners-up and will each receive one item of valuable merchandise to provide to the charities of their choice.

To further strengthen the relationship between the member and his or her credit union, representatives from each credit union will also make the trip to Chicago. For more information on the Credit Union Magic Minute, visit cumagicminute.com.
